How did I even get on this personal branding journey?
In 2019, I was recognized as a Woman Influencer by The Cannata Report. As part of this honor, I traveled to New York City and gave a speech. I was flattered. Then, I got hit with Imposter Syndrome big time.
I knew it was time to tell my story, the real one. Not the facade that I had hidden behind for years. You see, I grew up in the foster care system and I was out on my own at age 14. No stable home much less a high-school or college education. But I worked hard to get to where I wanted to be.
I knew that I needed to have a personal brand for all the activities I was doing, the opportunities, and the speaking engagements I was being asked to participate in. I also knew that it needed to be authentic and be my story. This is what led to me becoming the CEO of my own brand and also birthed my passion to now help others do the same. Because a personal brand is a platform and brings so many amazing rewards and opportunities for growth.
